Team Belgium

Lieselot, Margareta, Cid, Ugne, Gaia, Tim

Naturally, our farmers also need partners in Belgium to help distribute and sell their produce. And we do this with incredible passion and enthusiasm.

We are a small team with big ideals. And we put these into practice in our day-to-day work. We are responsible for the logistics that ensure our Mediterranean produce reaches its destination fresh and full of flavour.

We are in close contact with our producers and are always on the lookout for new projects in Belgium to collaborate on.

You can find us at the warehouse in Sint-Katelijne-Waver – you’re very welcome!

  • Cid

    Coordinator

The incredible storyteller. But unlike many storytellers, he is also very good at asking questions and listening. He coordinates our organisation from a position right at the heart of our group. With a clear vision of what our food system needs, he ensures that The Food Hub offers an alternative to the norm. He came on board at The Food Hub as a jack-of-all-trades and quickly found his way to the helm of our ship. He keeps us on our toes, maintains the big picture, questions things and forges new plans for the future.

Call him Chef Cid, not for his airs and graces, but for his culinary skills and inexhaustible product knowledge. He teaches us to taste, and apart from the presentation of the plates, his creations score very highly! Feel free to ask him anything via cid@thefoodhub.be.

  • Margareta

    Finance/ HR manager

Behind the scenes, our small-scale operations generate a vast tangle of data, invoices, fluctuating prices, contracts and product information. It’s no easy task to keep that tangle under control! Yet Margareta works tirelessly to streamline and digitise our processes. Nor do the figures escape her watchful eye! Her weekly reports and analyses keep us sharp and critical of our own work. You can email her at margareta@thefoodhub.be.

She possesses the rare combination of being both a numbers person and a people person. She has a big heart for the team; from the back office, she looks after everyone at The Food Hub, and we trust her 200%. She is eager to learn, positive, a bit of a soft touch, and always up for a day out. She is our personal reminder that we need to sleep outdoors more often!

  • Christophe (←)

    Warehouse manager

Keeps a cool head and a warm atmosphere. After his permanent role in Congo, he joined us as a warehouse coordinator. The logistics work in a small-scale organisation like ours is often chaotic and involves a constant stream of questions and problems. To manage that, you need someone who can stay calm at all times and who understands the dynamics of the situation. Enter Christophe. No question is too much for him, no challenge too great. He always remains calm, approachable and sharp. Christophe instils confidence, provides clarity and structure for the team.

Christophe is working on optimising the flow of our warehouse operations and order picking in various areas. He also coordinates your orders and deliveries. You can reach him at christophe@thefoodhub.be

  • Lieselot

    Administrative & warehouse staff

Our beating heart for people, culture, and food. Until recently, she was keeping theatre productions running smoothly; now she ensures everything runs smoothly in our warehouse. She is the newest addition to our team, but she has already taught us a lot about flavours, recipes, and combinations. The best lemon cake ever.

At home, she cooks, does crafts and grows her own produce; here she ensures our office is tastefully decorated, the paperwork is in order, and there’s a great team spirit. That’s what you get when you say “te quiro” instead of “quantos cajas” to a Spanish lorry driver.

She bridges the gap between our customers in Belgium and our southern products. A question about quality, taste or delivery? Send it to Lieselot! Lieselot@thefoodhub.be

  • Esther

    Head of events

The Food Hub stands for ‘food with a story’, but how do we tell those stories? That’s where Esther comes in! Through our various channels, she tells the stories of our farmers, our principles, our customers, our team and our products. With her analogue camera, she captures our farmers on film, and in the weekly newsletter she shares the ins and outs of our organisation. Through visits to our farmers and other events, she brings people together. In this way, she keeps the link between our customers and our farmers as short as possible.

You can always hear her “Mmmmmmmmmm!!” from far and wide. Esther isn’t generally very good at sales, but thanks to her enthusiasm for our products, she’s still managed to make it to head of sales. She also contributes strategic thinking on the future of our cooperative. Would you like to work with us? Email esther@thefoodhub.be.

  • Anthony

    Driver & team warehouse

The veteran of our family, so to speak! Of all our colleagues, Anthony has been with us the longest. He knows our warehouse inside out, the names of our farmers, and exactly where everything is on the shelves. Anthony is therefore the perfect person to ask any questions. And he always answers them with great patience and a smile.

His memory is legendary, and so are his meme creations. Anthony has been driving the Klark accident-free for 5 years now – an art in itself!

For many of our catering customers, he’s the familiar face who comes to deliver; whatever news or compliments he hears there, he always shares with the team. Unfortunately, he does keep the treats he’s offered all to himself. Hardstyle blaring from the speakers, sunshine streaming through the windscreen, Anthony’s a happy chap – as long as there’s no traffic jam!

  • Tim

    Team warehouse

The farmer among us! When he’s not hard at work and singing in our warehouse, Tim is busy on his farm, Ferme Dullaard. Since 2023, he’s been working there to realise his dream of planting hundreds of trees, shrubs and perennial herbs. A valuable source of knowledge within the team.

Tim is radical, funny and often very enthusiastic, including about our products. In winter, he buys a crate of blood oranges every week for his own use and for strangers on the street. But he is strict. Not sour enough? Not tasty! He believes in bringing people together and fights for a better world: protests and solidarity actions for Palestine, a falafel stall at Jazz Middelheim, children’s and outdoor camps, cooking with surplus food, and more.

  • Charlotte

    Team warehouse

After four years, Charlotte has also become a key, permanent member of our warehouse team. She takes great care when preparing orders and is proactive in suggesting ways to improve our operations.

Charlotte is very attentive to how everyone is feeling. She will always ask about this and make space for personal stories, however difficult they may sometimes be. This creates the strong bond you feel within our warehouse team. Her commitment and genuine interest in our farmers’ stories make her indispensable to our team.

  • Ugne

    Team warehouse

Her name means ‘fire’ in Lithuanian, and don’t ask us why! She’s a bubbling whirlwind of energy, adventure and creativity. She channels that fire into caring for our planet and all life on it.

As well as her two regular days with us in the warehouse, Ugne makes music, experiments with vegan recipes, learns about wine, sings in a choir and writes theatre reviews.

Ugne is loyal, sincere, has tremendous perseverance and enough energy for 20 people. She looks at the world around her with a sense of wonder and an open mind, and that keeps us all young!

  • Rennée

    Team warehouse

Wins the prize for the colleague with the most infectious laugh. Rennée works in the fields for one of our clients (Vremdveld) in the summer and is a permanent member of our warehouse team in the winter. A colleague who adapts to the seasons – how lovely!

And we’re so happy to have Rennée back with us. Even the most tedious tasks suddenly become an opportunity to learn and feel good about.

And what else? From photography to youth groups, theatre and woodwork, Rennée even built her own tiny house! With an outdoor shower and a family of ducks as neighbours. Because Rennée has a special love for poultry, do ask her to list 25 breeds of chicken!

  • Michiel

    Team warehouse

Our latest winter addition! Because as soon as the harvests in Belgium start to dwindle, we place more orders with our farmers and could do with some extra hands!

With a great love for Italy and flavourful produce, he’s been right at home with us from day one! Those four years of Duolingo Italian are already coming in handy: arancia rossa, cedro, peperone, cavolo nero, mandarini, …

A warm-hearted person with his heart in the right place and a great passion for music. He combines his own music-making with recording, mixing and producing records. Would you like to get to know him better? https://shitfruit.bandcamp.com/
